Reconvilier 11

Description

In the swiss Jura, there’s the village of Reconvilier, in which since 1853 until today (after a relaunch in 2006) watches and movements are made.

The Reconvilier 11 is one of the few calibers, which were made there.

It dates from the late 1940s and has got the popular tonneau shape with a width of only 5 1/4 lignes. Its slanted bridges and cocks make a pleasant impression.

Reconvilier 11: base plate

base plate

On the base plate, you see the good quality of this movement. All important bearings contain rubies, in total we have 15 jewels, which were common these days.

Reconvilier 11: gear train

gear train

The filigree wheels are nice and make the classical gear train consisting of the directly driven minute wheel, third wheel, seconds wheel and escape wheel.

There’s a little oddity: The third wheel gear runs above the minute wheel.

The pallets of this swiss pallet lever movement are transparent.

A two-leg screw balance controls the movement. Its frequency of 18000 A/h can be adjusted with a long regulator arm.

Reconvilier 11: Dial side

On the dial side, you see the yoke windign system and the characteristically shaped setting lever spring.

The balance wheel is not yet shock protected, and so, at position 1 o’clock, you can spot the cap jewel for the balance wheel bearing.

In the lab

This movement came in good condition into the lab and got a simple service because of its age.

Timegrapher result

For such a tiny movement of this age, the timegrapher results, which represent the mean deviations in each position, are pretty OK, and without the exception in position 12 up, it would have been exceptionally good.

horizontal positions
dial up +14 s/d 313° 0.2ms
dial down +2 s/d 290° 0.3ms
vertical positions
crown right (12 up) -50 s/d 217° 0.5ms
crown up (3 up) +11 s/d 229° 0.4ms
crown left (6 up) -2 s/d 231° 0.1ms
crown down (9 up) +4 s/d 239° 0.6ms
