Tissot 782

Description

In the sixties, Tissot lauched the caliber series 781-784, consisting of three windup and one automatic calibers.

These, for Tissot already pretty late movements were already cost-efficiently made and lack nice decorations and technical specialities.

Tissot 782: base plate

base plate

The quality is very well, even the center minute wheel is ruby beared on both sides.

Tissot 782: base plate with center minute wheel

base plate with center minute wheel

The construction with directly driven center minute wheel is a bit outdated, especially when you take into account, that Tissot was more a progressive and innovative company.

Tissot 782: gear train

gear train

The gear train is classical, with center minute wheel, third wheel, center seconds wheel and steel escape wheel.

The two-leg anular balance is shock-protected in two Incabloc bearings (of which the one on the balance wheel cock is really huge) and beats slowly with 18000 A/h. It controls a swiss pallet lever escapement and can be adjusted with an excenter.

Tissot 782: first calendar switching wheel

first calendar switching wheel

The calendar mechanism is odd, it consists of two switching wheels: The first one is driven by the hour wheel and has got a switching finger on its lower side.

Tissot 782: calender mechanism

calender mechanism

This switching finger engages into a star wheel with two pins on its upper side, which advance the date ring. Because of this, the calendar advances within only one hour and can be adjusted semi-fast by turning the hands back and forth.

The ratchet of the calender mechanism, the yoke winding system and the date ring are held in place by two covers on the dial side.
